Mouthguards

At Auburn Dental Associates we recommend that a mouthguard be part of every athlete's gear, no matter the sport. Parents should make sure their children are protected. Even adults and weekend athletes need to protect their smiles and preserve their health. Wear a mouthguard at all times when playing sports. It’s always best to wear a mouthguard custom-fitted by your dentist, especially if you wear bridges or braces. Don’t wear removable appliances like retainers when playing sports.

If you have any questions about dental health for athletes, please call our office at (855) 541-0495 and we’ll be happy to help you find the answers.

Bad Breath Can Be a Sign of Dental Problems

While bad breath might be a symptom of some other disorder, it most likely stems from dental decay and periodontitis. It's more than just socially awkward - it's a serious threat to your oral health. Periodontitis is a disease affecting gums and bone that support the teeth, and it is caused by inadequate brushing and flossing.

If you’re worried about bad breath, call us today at (855) 541-0495 to schedule a consultation with Dr. Schmidt. If he finds gum disease and/or dental decay, it can be treated readily. There's no need to live with bad breath, and no reason to neglect your dental health.

Diet and Dental Health

Diets low in certain nutrients can reduce resistance to oral and dental infections including gum disease and tooth decay. A healthy immune system is essential to controlling periodontal disease. Counseling in the Four Basic Food groups will improve dental health and general health.

The consumption of sugar, especially in sticky forms or in a baby bottle while sleeping, contributes to the rapid development of dental decay. Dr. Schmidt believes that a balanced diet, effective brushing and sensible eating habits can reduce the risk of, or even prevent, infectious dental disease. If you need more information on how a healthy diet can improve your dental health, please don't hesitate to call Auburn Dental Associates at (855) 541-0495.
